Abstract

Big data analytics has emerged as a disruptive technology that is transforming how organisations operate and compete. The exponential growth of data from an increasing variety of sources presents simultaneously opportunities and challenges for businesses. This research article examines the role and impact of big data analytics on business model innovation and competitive advantage. A review of academic literature explores the theoretical links between big data analytics, business model innovation, and competitive advantage. The findings suggest that big data analytics facilitates business model innovation by enabling data-driven decision making, allowing experimentation and optimisation, and providing personalized customer experiences. Key enablers and inhibitors of leveraging big data analytics are identified. Case studies of companies successfully utilizing big data analytics to innovate their business models and gain competitive advantage are analyzed. The article concludes with a discussion of best practices and a proposed framework for exploiting big data analytics to transform business models and achieve sustained competitive advantage. The profound implications of big data analytics on the competitive landscape across industries are discussed.
